There's a new, updated version of Charon Wormhole, the tutorial adventure for the upcoming sci-fi solitare roleplaying game Welcome Aboard, Captain.

Changes are largely cosmetic, bringing the descriptions of the game world in line with some updates to the game world presented in the core game and other duty sector booklets.

Progress on the game itself is coming along nicely!  I've been putting a lot of hours into it, and I've managed to file off a couple of rough edges and replace them with more evocative and smoother gameplay, which is really heartening.  There have been some really great improvements that took some playtesting to work out, but it's really coming together into something that feels compelling and special (at least to me!).

I've also got a draft complete for a third duty sector booklet called The Cetus Response, which is another tutorial adventure that leads you through the process of using the procedural mission generator by providing a complete mission with descriptions, commentary, advice, and some exciting sci-fi action to play along with.

In The Cetus Response, your ship is sent to an ice planet where geologic fumaroles have heated pockets of ice to form oceans under the ice mantle. There, a small colony of refugees have been set up at a harvesting facility for a kelp-like plant that grows in abundance there.  A sudden, catastrophic collapse of one of their habitation modules prompts your ship to go to the planet to investigate.  What you'll find there is beyond anything the colonists expected, but if anyone is stalwart in the face of the unexpected, it's an Alliance captain and her crew! You'll get to the bottom of the mystery and save the colony (or die trying), and learn how to use the procedural mission generator as you go.

I hope you all will enjoy this new adventure in the Alliance universe – it will be part of the release of the core game along with the second duty sector booklet Charybdis Nebula.  That brings us to three pre-authored adventures for the game, and I'm quite happy with all of them!
