Battle Weary released!

So over the past week, I've been working on a new roguelike for the Seven Day Roguelike game jam.  It's called Battle Weary, and it's playable right in your browser.

The main interesting feature of the game is that it should be playable by screen readers.  (So far, it is only tested with VoiceOver.)  I tried to both get the technology to work and get the UI and game features settled to really accommodate the core gameplay of a roguelike when played without being able to see the screen, and I believe it works pretty well.

It also has an interesting combat mechanic in that your character is represented by a deck of cards. You draw a hand of 4 cards, and play them to take action in battle.   When you run out of cards you want to play, you discard the rest and the enemy plays a card.  If they hit you, they add a Wound card to your deck.  Then, you draw four more cards to start your next hand.  Every time you reshuffle your discard pile to create a new draw pile, you add an Exhaustion card to your deck, and if you ever draw a four-card hand of Exhaustion and Wound cards, your hero has fallen.

Overall, I think it works well.  It doesn't have as much content as I'd hoped, but what's there provides a complete, short-form roguelike that challenges you to build up your deck and defeat the final boss.
